To navigate this handicap, he relies entirely on Yu Himuro, his childhood friend, classmate, and secret lover, who possesses immense spiritual vision and a surprising degree of physical strength. Together, the two operate as an unconventional supernatural team, with Yu serving as the eyes and Kyoji acting as the muscle to banish local spirits.

However, keeping their community safe is only half the battle, as the couple faces an endless stream of comedic and disruptive challenges under their own roof. Between a string of highly unfortunate coincidences, spirits explicitly trying to drive a wedge between them, and the arrival of Yu's intrusive cousin Kaoru—who harbors his own unrequited feelings for Kyoji—the two struggle to find a quiet moment to solidify their relationship.
