School Rumble ~Season One~ DVD

Tenma Tsukamoto is a second-year high school student desperately in love with her quiet, mild-mannered classmate Oji Karasuma — a boy who seems entirely unaware of her existence and whose primary passion appears to be curry. Tenma's attempts to confess her feelings are elaborate, inventive, and reliably catastrophic. Meanwhile, Kenji Harima — the school's resident delinquent, rumored gang leader, and aspiring manga artist — has fallen completely, helplessly in love with Tenma, and his own attempts to express this are equally disastrous. Around these two hopeless cases, an enormous ensemble of classmates, friends, rivals, and teachers generates its own overlapping network of crushes, misunderstandings, and missed connections. Nobody communicates clearly. Everyone assumes the worst. The comedy lives in the gap between what people feel and what they actually manage to say.

School Rumble is a 26-episode romantic comedy produced by Studio Comet, directed by Shinji Takamatsu — the director of Gintama, Daily Lives of High School Boys, and Haven't You Heard? I'm Sakamoto — written by Hiroko Tokita, scored by Toshio Masuda, and based on Jin Kobayashi's manga serialized in Weekly Shonen Magazine.

This is the original FUNimation Vol. 1 Starter Set — the first individual DVD volume packaged in the yellow metal school locker tin with a mini-yearbook from Yagami High School. Subsequent individual volumes included magnet sheets to customize the tin's exterior. FUNimation later released a Season 1 Box Set (August 12, 2008, 5 discs, 26 episodes) and a Complete Series Set (December 8, 2009, both seasons + OVA).
