SD Gundam Force: Showdown! is a 3D action brawler for PlayStation 2 based on the Cartoon Network animated series of the same name. Neotopia is a city where humans and robots coexist in peace, until the interdimensional Dark Axis army launches an invasion and drags the young boy Shute into the Dimension Halo. The SD Gundam Force — Captain Gundam, Zero the Winged Knight, and Musha Bakunetsumaru — must fight across three worlds to stop the ancient evil force behind the attack and bring Shute home.
Players choose from the three main characters, each with distinct fighting styles, weapons, and special attacks. Items collected throughout each stage can be equipped before heading into battle, adding a light loadout layer to the hack-and-slash gameplay. Stages and settings draw directly from events in the animated series, keeping the super-deformed visual style and energy of the source material intact. Two-player cooperative play is supported throughout the full campaign.
Developed by Tom Create and published by Bandai in North America in October 2004. The game is squarely aimed at younger players and fans of the SD Gundam Force series, with accessible combat and a story original to the game that runs alongside the anime continuity.
