Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4 is a critically acclaimed JRPG set in the rural town of Inaba, where a string of mysterious murders coincides with the appearance of a surreal “TV World” filled with Shadows. You play as a transfer student who, alongside a group of friends, forms the Investigation Team—diving into the TV World, confronting inner fears, and battling dark manifestations of the human psyche. The story blends murder mystery, supernatural tension, and heartfelt character arcs that evolve as your social bonds deepen.

Gameplay mixes turn-based dungeon combat with the series’ signature Persona fusion system—allowing you to collect, create, and customize Personas for strategic battles. Outside of combat, you manage daily life: attending school, building social links, working part-time jobs, and choosing how to spend each day. Your relationships directly strengthen your Personas, influencing abilities, stats, and fusion options. With multiple endings, time management decisions, and a cast of memorable characters, Persona 4 is considered one of the PS2’s defining RPG experiences.

Persona 4’s narrative was crafted under Katsura Hashino, the lead behind Persona 3, Persona 4, and Persona 5.

Character designs were created by Shigenori Soejima, whose clean, stylish visual direction defined the modern Persona aesthetic.
