It's a small, intimate story built almost entirely on the friendship between three people — Roxas, Axel, and Xion — set against the cold institutional machinery of Organization XIII. Shiro Amano brings his characteristic clean linework and expressive character work to the material, and the manga format actually strengthens the emotional pacing of a story that was always better suited to cutscenes than gameplay. Fans who remember crying at the ending of the DS game should prepare accordingly.
