Shin Godzilla vs. Evangelion Symphony captures a landmark live concert pairing two of composer Shiro Sagisu's most iconic scores: his work on Shin Godzilla and the Rebuild of Evangelion film series. Conducted by Masamichi Amano and performed by the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, this marked Sagisu's first live symphony performance in 20 years, blending orchestral arrangements of both franchises' themes with tribute pieces to Godzilla composer Akira Ifukube.
Recorded live at Bunkamura Orchard Hall on May 22–23, 2017, the album features guest vocals from Yoko Takahashi (performing "A Cruel Angel's Thesis" and "Who Will Know") alongside trumpet soloist Eric Miyashiro and the New National Theatre Chorus. Released on King Records, the set includes a slipcase illustrated by Mahiro Maeda and a booklet, and stands as a rare document of a full-scale live crossover between two of Japanese pop culture's most enduring musical catalogs.
