In Slime World, players control space explorer Captain Todd as he navigates the treacherous, goo-filled caverns of a mysterious planet to collect valuable Slime Gems. Rather than using a traditional health bar, the game features a unique "grime" system where Todd becomes increasingly coated in green filth from enemy attacks and environmental hazards; players must frequently locate pools of clean water to wash off the sludge before Todd is completely overwhelmed and defeated. Armed with a water gun to dissolve enemies and clear paths, players must survive six diverse mission types—ranging from puzzle-solving and timed escapes to pure combat—while managing limited resources like shields, bombs, and map-revealing items across massive, non-linear mazes.
