Thousands of years from now, humanity has scattered across the galaxy and forgotten the planet where it all began. Earth — if it still exists at all — is legend, myth, a name spoken in reverence or dismissal. The crew of the Sol Bianca doesn't much care about legends. April, the sharp and determined captain, runs her all-female pirate crew with intensity and absolute loyalty to her ship. Feb is the cool, enigmatic strategist. Janny is the weapons specialist with a chip on her shoulder and a short fuse. June is the tech genius who carries a holographic AI interface called Sancho in a ring. Everything changes when a young stowaway named Mayo is discovered in the cargo hold — a girl searching for her missing parents, who were last known to be heading toward the mythical lost planet Earth. The Sol Bianca's crew becomes entangled with the fanatical Terra Force and its obsessive commander Gyunter, who believes Earth to be sacred ground worth dying — and killing — for. The journey toward Earth will force each woman to confront her past, her loyalties, and what home truly means.

Sol Bianca: The Legacy is a six-episode OVA reimagining of the original 1990 Sol Bianca series, produced by AIC and Pioneer LDC and directed by Yasuhiro Minami. Rather than a sequel, it is a complete rebooting of the concept — a darker, more atmospheric, and more character-driven take on the space pirate premise, with a new continuity, redesigned characters, and significantly upgraded production values that integrate 3D CG animation for the Sol Bianca itself and other spacecraft alongside traditional 2D character animation. Each episode is prefaced with a quote from classical literature and the series carries a distinctly moody, contemplative tone that sets it well apart from the kinetic fun of the original.

 Released in North America by Pioneer/Geneon Entertainment on three DVD volumes in 2000, and later as a limited edition Bailey Box complete collection.
