Sorcerous Stabber Orphen: Revenge - Season Two DVD

With Azalie finally free of her curse, Orphen should be able to settle into something resembling a normal life. Instead, he finds himself drawn into a new and completely different crisis — one that takes him, Cleao, and Majic far from the familiar conflicts of the Tower of Fang and into territory that is stranger, more dangerous, and more personal. The Revenge arc introduces a new set of antagonists and expands the world of the series considerably, pulling Orphen toward revelations about the origins of sorcery itself and the hidden history of the world he thought he understood. Along the way the group's dynamic deepens, Cleao's role evolves from comic foil to genuine participant, and Orphen's characteristic reluctance to care about anything other than his immediate goal becomes increasingly difficult to maintain.

Sorcerous Stabber Orphen: Revenge is the 23-episode second season of the series, produced by J.C. Staff and airing on TBS from October 1999 through March 2000. It is based on the later volumes of Yoshinobu Akita's light novel series and takes the franchise in a noticeably different direction from the first season — where Season 1 was tightly focused on the Azalie arc, Revenge broadens its scope into world-building and new mythology, with a longer-form arc structure and a darker overall tone. The season received a more mixed reception than the first, with some viewers finding the new direction rewarding and others preferring the more personal stakes of the original arc. Released in North America by ADV Films on DVD in December 2003, later reissued with Season 1 in an 8-disc boxset by Sentai Filmworks in 2009.
