Digimon: Digital Monsters - DVD

Seven kids at summer camp are suddenly swept into another dimension: the Digital World, a realm populated by creatures called Digimon that partner with the children and can evolve into more powerful forms to protect them. Tai, Matt, Sora, Izzy, Mimi, Joe, and T.K. find themselves with no way home, accompanied by Agumon, Gabumon, Biyomon, Tentomon, Palmon, Gomamon, and Patamon. A sinister force called Devimon and his Black Gears are corrupting Digimon across File Island. As the children discover their Crests and push deeper into the Digital World, the threat escalates from island-level to global: Myotismon crosses into the real world seeking the eighth DigiDestined child, leading to a battle in Tokyo that involves the children's families for the first time and introduces Gatomon and Kari. The final arc pits the DigiDestined against the Dark Masters and ultimately Apocalymon in a crisis that threatens both worlds.

Digimon: Digital Monsters - known in Japan as Digimon Adventure - is a 54-episode series produced by Toei Animation, directed by Hiroyuki Kakudou, written by Satoru Nishizono and Hiro Masaki, and based on the Digimon virtual pet franchise developed by Bandai. It aired on Fuji TV from March 7, 1999, and premiered on Fox Kids in the United States on August 14, 1999 - where it became one of the defining children's anime of the era, spawning six sequel series, theatrical films, and a 2020 reboot. The English dub was produced by Saban Entertainment. New Video Group and Flatiron Film Company released Season 1 across two volumes in 2012 - Volume 1 covers episodes 1-21 (File Island and Etemon arcs, 3 discs) and Volume 2 covers episodes 22-40 (Myotismon arc, Dark Masters arc).
