Airship levels with boss Koopaling encounters cap each world. A two-player alternating mode adds replay value, and the mini-games accessible from the world map provide items through skill games. Released in Japan in October 1988 and in North America in February 1990 after one of the most celebrated product launches in gaming history — SMB3 was previewed in the 1989 film The Wizard, generating enormous anticipation.
