Takahiro & Yohei Takemura - Chained Soldier Manga

Chained Soldier is an action-heavy supernatural seinen manga written by Takahiro — best known for Akame ga Kill! — and illustrated by Yohei Takemura, serialized on Shueisha's Shōnen Jump+ digital platform since 2019. The premise: decades ago, mysterious portals to a deadly parallel dimension called Mato — the "Demon City" — began appearing across Japan. The creatures that emerge from these gates can only be fought by women who have eaten the supernatural "peaches" that grow inside Mato, granting each a unique superpower. When thoroughly ordinary high schooler Yuuki Wakura stumbles into a Mato gate and nearly dies, he's rescued by Kyouka Uzen — the sharp, commanding leader of the Demon Defense Force's elite 7th Squad. The catch: Yuuki's power only activates when he submits to a master, and Kyouka is very happy to fill that role. In exchange for serving as her "chained soldier," she rewards him in ways that are simultaneously motivating and deeply complicated.

The series is Takahiro operating in full-throttle fan-service action mode — the master-slave power dynamic is played for maximum comedic and romantic tension, and Takemura's art delivers both the explosive supernatural combat sequences and the ecchi character moments with equal confidence. What keeps it from being pure wish-fulfillment is Takahiro's knack for ensemble storytelling: as Yuuki's reputation grows within the Demon Defense Force, a rotating cast of squad commanders with wildly different personalities and power sets each get their own arcs, rivalries, and moments to shine. The worldbuilding around Mato and the peach-based power system gets progressively more elaborate as the series goes on.

Adapted into a 12-episode anime by Seven Arcs that aired in early 2024 to strong simulcast viewership, with a second season confirmed.

Fans of Akame ga Kill!, Triage X, or High School DxD will find this exactly what it promises — a confidently executed action harem series from one of the genre's most practiced hands, with some of the cleanest battle art currently running in Jump+.
