Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars - Nintendo Wii

Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars for the Nintendo Wii is a crossover 2D tag team fighting game that pairs Capcom's video game roster against Tatsunoko Production's anime roster in one of the most unexpected and beloved crossovers in fighting game history. From Capcom come Ryu and Chun-Li from Street Fighter, Morrigan from Darkstalkers, Mega Man Volnutt from Mega Man Legends, Zero, Viewtiful Joe, Roll, Frank West from Dead Rising, and others. From Tatsunoko come Ken the Eagle and Jun the Swan from Science Ninja Team Gatchaman, cybernetic warrior Casshan, speed hero Polimar, the comedic Yatterman-1 and Yatterman-2, the armored space warrior Tekkaman Blade, the dark supernatural warrior Karas, and more. Two giant characters, Tatsunoko's Gold Lightan and Capcom's PTX-40A mech, fight solo without team partners due to their enormous scale.

Teams of two characters fight in 2.5D arenas rendered in 3D. Players switch freely between their two fighters mid-match, with the incoming character launching a free attack upon entry and the outgoing character gradually regenerating health while off-screen. Assist attacks call the partner in briefly for a single strike. Hyper Combo Gauges power both individual Hyper Combos and the devastating Variable Combination attack where both characters unleash their Hypers simultaneously. Three attack buttons plus a launcher keep the control scheme accessible, while an aerial combo system and the Baroque extended combo mechanic add depth for players who want it. 

The original Japanese version, Cross Generation of Heroes, was a Wii and arcade exclusive in Japan in 2008 but never localized due to international licensing complications with the Tatsunoko characters. Following high demand from international fans, Capcom worked with Tatsunoko to resolve the licensing issues and released the updated Ultimate All-Stars internationally in January 2010, with five new characters, online multiplayer, and rebalanced gameplay. The game remains a Wii exclusive and has never been ported to any other platform.
