Tengai Makyou: Deden no Den is a promotional action-battle game that serves as a unique cross-over between the Bomberman and Tengai Makyō (Far East of Eden) franchises. Unlike the mainline entries in the series, it eschews a narrative-driven RPG experience in favor of a multiplayer-only "Battle Mode" based on the engine of Bomberman '94. Players do not embark on a quest through Jipang; instead, up to five players take control of various colored versions of the flamboyant kabuki performer Kabuki Danjūrō to compete in explosive, grid-based arenas. As a limited-edition prize distributed primarily at Hudson Soft's "Super Caravan" events and through newsletters, the game focuses entirely on competitive gameplay mechanics, including iconic power-ups and ridable creatures known as Louies, without any single-player story mode or CPU opponents.
