Sangokushi: Eiketsu Tenka ni Nozomu, released by Naxat Soft for the PC Engine CD-ROM² in March 1991, is a historical strategy and war simulation game set in the Three Kingdoms period of ancient China. Based on the renowned manga adaptation by Mitsuteru Yokoyama, the game allows players to assume the role of various warlords as they manage territories, recruit officers, and engage in tactical battles to unify the land. As an early CD-ROM title, it utilizes the format to provide detailed visuals and a presentation that captures the aesthetic of Yokoyama’s artwork, offering a more traditional territorial management experience compared to later RPG-focused entries in the broader Sangokushi genre.
