The Fruit of Grisaia / The Eden of Grisaia - Blu-ray

Mihama Academy is less a school than a sealed container. Its walls are high, its student body is six people, its staff is minimal, and the five female students who attend are there because the outside world no longer has a place for them — each one carrying damage severe enough to require the kind of controlled environment that Mihama provides. Into this arrangement arrives Yuji Kazami: the first male student, a transfer whose background is classified and whose manner is calm in a way that suggests he has seen considerably worse than five troubled girls. He becomes a student. He becomes, in his quiet way, something they each need. Their stories — Yumiko and her box cutter, Makina and her terrible past, Sachi and her literal interpretation of every request, Michiru and her fabricated personality, Amane and her survivor guilt — unfold one by one across the series.

Then the Labyrinth of Grisaia reveals what Yuji actually is: a trained government assassin who has been killing people for years, shaped by a childhood of unrelenting horror at the hands of a man named Heath Oslo and the cult he ran. The Eden of Grisaia follows: Yuji has been captured, Oslo has returned with a threat capable of forcing the government's hand, and the five girls of Mihama — no longer contained, no longer waiting — go after him themselves.

The Fruit of Grisaia is a 13-episode psychological drama produced by 8-Bit and directed by Tensho (Kinmoza!, Tears to Tiara), based on Frontwing's 2011 adult visual novel — one of the most celebrated VNs of its era, adapted by Sekai Project for English release in 2015. The Eden of Grisaia is a 10-episode sequel series continuing directly from The Labyrinth of Grisaia special, together completing the anime adaptation of the Grisaia trilogy.
