Bakumatsu Roman: Gekka no Kenshi is one of SNK’s most beautifully crafted fighting games—often considered the studio’s finest achievement in animation, atmosphere, and swordplay mechanics. Set in the late Bakumatsu era of Japan (mid-1800s), the story blends real history with supernatural elements as warriors struggle at the boundary between life and the underworld.

The game features a refined weapon-based combat system built around precision, timing, and momentum. Players choose between two styles—
