The Squid Girl - Blu-ray

Humanity has polluted the oceans long enough. Rising from the depths to deliver justice, Squid Girl — a small girl with ten tentacles for hair, the ability to emit bioluminescent ink, and an unshakeable conviction in her own terrifying power — arrives on the surface to conquer the human race.

Her invasion immediately goes sideways. She breaks a hole in the wall of the Lemon Beach House, a small beachside restaurant run by the Aizawa sisters, and is promptly put to work as a waitress to pay off the damages. Eiko is exasperated by her. Chizuru is serenely, inexplicably terrifying in ways Squid Girl alone seems to perceive. Takeru, the youngest sibling, adores her. A trio of American researchers become obsessed with studying her. A local girl named Sanae becomes obsessed with her for entirely different reasons. The beach's regulars cycle through. Invasion plans are hatched. Invasion plans fail immediately. Squid Girl learns about ice cream, sunscreen, colds, and the surprising complexity of human children. The ocean remains unpolluted. 

Squid Girl is a two-season comedy series produced by Diomedéa — the studio behind Campione! and Fuuka — directed by Tsutomu Mizushima, and based on Masahiro Anbe's manga serialized in Weekly Shonen Champion under Akita Shoten.

Both seasons were simulcast on Crunchyroll. Three OVA episodes were bundled with manga volumes 12, 14, and 17 from August 2012 to September 2014.

The Sentai release is the first to collect the entire franchise in a single North American release. A Premium Box Set with 12 discs (Blu-ray + DVD) and additional extras was released simultaneously.
