Arata Kasuga has been living in a pleasant bubble — a peaceful town, his beloved cousin Hijiri beside him every day. Then the Black Sun appears in the sky, and the Breakdown Phenomenon tears everything apart. The town is destroyed. Hijiri is gone. The world Arata was living in, it turns out, was a magical recreation — a fantasy sustained by a grimoire Hijiri placed around his neck to protect him from the Collapse. Now the real world has reasserted itself, and agents from the Royal Biblia Academy have come to collect him. He has manifested the rarest and most dangerous magical classification: Demon Lord. Rather than being detained or destroyed, Arata is enrolled. The Academy houses the Trinity Seven — seven female mages of exceptional power, each associated with one of the seven Thema categories derived from the seven deadly sins, whose grimoires are linked to the same research that destroyed his town. To restore Hijiri, Arata has to master their Thema. They, for their own various reasons, are not necessarily opposed to helping him. The series follows Arata navigating magical academia, an increasingly complicated household dynamic, and the looming question of what happens when a Demon Lord fully awakens.

Trinity Seven is a 12-episode magic academy harem series produced by Seven Arcs Pictures — the studio behind Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha, Dog Days, and White Album 2 — directed by Hiroshi Nishikiori (Azumanga Daioh, A Certain Magical Index), and based on Kenji Saitō and Akinari Nao's manga serialized in Monthly Dragon Age under Kadokawa Shoten. It aired on AT-X and other channels from October to December 2014. The series is distinguished within its genre by a male lead who is unapologetically confident, openly interested in the women around him, and deployed less as a passive harem centerpiece than as an active participant with a genuine goal — a characterization choice that gives the series more comedic energy than most genre contemporaries. The music was composed by Technoboys Pulcraft Green-Fund. Sentai Filmworks released the Complete Collection on Blu-ray and DVD on August 16, 2016 — a 2-disc set with 12 episodes, running 300 minutes, with English dub and Japanese audio.
