Sixth-grade life is hard enough without having to worry about extraterrestrial parasites. At Hibari-ga-oka Elementary, the "Alien Party" is a specialized team tasked with capturing and neutralizing the bizarre creatures that frequently drift down to Earth. The catch? The team is comprised of three young girls—Yuri, Kasumi, and Kumi—who must bond with symbiotic "Borgs," living helmets that protect them while feeding on their waste. For Yuri Otani, the shyest member of the group, being chosen for the team is a living nightmare. What begins as a surreal school chore slowly descends into a psychological struggle, where the line between human and alien begins to blur in unsettling ways.
Alien Nine is a cult-classic OVA series that subverts the "magical girl" genre with its stark exploration of trauma, isolation, and the loss of innocence. Based on the manga by Hitoshi Tomizawa, this adaptation stands out for its unique, rounded character designs contrasted against a dark, often visceral narrative.
