Momoko Hanasaki is a cheerful junior high schooler whose biggest concerns are her crush on soccer star Yousuke and her ongoing rivalry with classmate Yuri — until she discovers she's actually a "Love Angel," a warrior destined to protect the power of love itself from demons bent on erasing it from the world. Transforming into the bridal-themed Wedding Peach, Momoko joins forces with her friends Angel Lily and Angel Daisy to collect the Sacred Four Somethings and stop the demon queen Rain DeVilla before love is wiped from the universe entirely.
Wedding Peach occupies a beloved niche in the mid-90s magical girl boom as one of the genre's most unapologetically romantic entries. Where other series drew from sailor mythology or fairy tales, Wedding Peach goes all-in on love and weddings as its central theme — its transformation sequences, attacks, and power items are all bridal in nature, giving the series a distinctive visual identity that sets it apart from its contemporaries. Nao Yazawa's art is soft, expressive, and quintessentially shojo, with the kind of big-eyed sparkle and delicate linework that defined the era.
A contemporary and tonal peer of early Sailor Moon, Wedding Peach ran alongside its anime adaptation on TV Tokyo from 1995 to 1996 for 51 episodes, followed by a four-episode OVA sequel, Wedding Peach DX.
