WWF WrestleMania 2000 - Game Boy Color

WWF WrestleMania 2000 for the Game Boy Color is a 2D side-scrolling wrestling game developed by Natsume and published by THQ — released alongside the acclaimed Nintendo 64 version as a dedicated portable counterpart. Set during the peak of the WWF Attitude Era, the game features a roster of 16 playable superstars including Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock, The Undertaker, Kane, Triple H, Mankind, and more, with TV-style entrance sequences for each wrestler in Championship mode.

Gameplay is viewed from the side with the ring scrolling in all directions as wrestlers move around it. Five single-player modes are available: Championship — the main story mode where players fight through a series of matches culminating in a showdown with Vince McMahon — along with Versus, Cage Match, Gauntlet, and a Two Player head-to-head mode via Game Boy Color Link Cable. A Steel Cage match is playable in both Championship and Versus modes, with escape-over-the-top as the only victory condition. Multiple hidden characters can be unlocked by completing specific challenges, including Cactus Jack, Dude Love, Shawn Michaels, and commentators Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler.

Developed by Natsume and released on November 15, 1999, WWF WrestleMania 2000 GBC captures the presentation of the WWF Attitude Era better than most Game Boy wrestling titles — entrance screens, wrestler portraits, and TV-style cutscenes give it a polish above its contemporaries. It is a notably different and simpler game than the N64 version, but a solid portable wrestling option for its era. A piece of late-1990s WWF history and a nostalgic find for Attitude Era fans.
