Misaki Saiki is an albino woman with white hair who holds down three jobs simultaneously, none of which she is particularly proud of. By day she works as a dominatrix at a BDSM club. She also writes a column for an adult magazine. And she is a government-employed necromancer — a civil servant for the Livelihood Preservation Group, a bureau that handles supernatural problems the regular authorities cannot address. Misaki can perceive and communicate with the dead, sometimes acting as a conduit for ghosts to speak through. Her government partner is Souichiro Kadotake, earnest and professionally devoted to a degree that reads as personal. The four OVA episodes cover cases ranging from a vengeful ghost haunting a construction site to a spirit tied to a criminal kidnapping case — each one combining genuine supernatural horror with the series' blunt, unapologetic approach to Misaki's other career and the complicated humor that emerges from it.
Ghost Talker's Daydream is a four-episode OVA produced by Hal Film Maker — the studio behind Angel Sanctuary — directed by Osamu Sekita, and based on Saki Okuse and Sankichi Meguro's manga serialized in Monthly Shonen Ace. Known in Japan as Teizokurei Daydream (Vulgar Ghost Daydream), the title was renamed for the North American release by Geneon. Two episodes closely follow chapters from the manga; the other two are original stories not present in the source material.
The series was released in North America on DVD by Geneon Entertainment on August 23, 2005. The title was later re-licensed by Discotek Media.
